WHEN HOLDING ON DOES MORE HARM THAN GOOD
Sometimes, holding on does more harm than letting go.
That's why these scriptures encourage us to cast all our cares and burdens upon the Lord, for He cares (Psalms 55:22) (1Pet. 5:7)
Let's consider this analogy.
Take a glass of water or a cup of coffee or tea in your hand, (somethingyou might want to drink ) hold it in a gesture as though you're about to drink it.
Now, the weight of the cup would be insignificant if you'd just drink the content and put it down. However, you'd realize that the longer you hold on to the cup in your hand in that gesture, the heavier it'll become. If you hold on to it a bit longer, you'd feel burdened, your hand will begin to go numb blood flow will be affected, fatigue and tiredness and stress will begin to set in, which will affect your whole body, consequently.
This analogy of holding onto a cup and how it becomes heavier over time is a powerful reminder of the importance of letting go of all negative emotions and seeking God's spiritual strength to deal with life's challenges.
Because, that's actually what happens to anyone who holds on to the little anxieties, grudges, anger, the pains of disappointments, bitterness, fear of something et cetera. No matter how big or small it is, how embarrassing it may seem, and how unforgivable it might be, the longer you hold on to it, the heavier it'll become, and the more stress it'll exert on your body, or the more damage it might cause.
It can lead to more pain and other serious consequences.
Meanwhile, if we can trust God and believe His Word, we can just let go of all there is that's a burden. We can bring everything to Him in prayer, and ask Him to help the situation. Ask Him for help, for understanding, or for wisdom to deal with it the right way.
Remember, sometimes, holding on does more harm than letting go.
