He told me he was looking for a place close by to stay especially now that he wasn't having much.

At that moment I knew he wanted to ask if he will stay with me. I told him my place wasn't too good like that o. 

He looked at me.

"Victor, I go manage am. No be guys we be. Which one is your place isn't too good. Na just to sleep wake up abeg."

With those reassuring words that he was prepared to manage the way I have been managing, I took him to my house that day. It was an old one-room. The walls were not too good. When he walked in he looked around and sighed. 

"So na here you the stay." 

I said yes.

He nodded.

I knew he had so much to say but he just swallowed it and I let it slide peacefully.

The next night it rained heavily. My roof began to leak badly. 

Usually, I will shift my bed to a corner and place a bucket there for the water to leak in. But this time the water leaked from 3 different holes. 

My friend woke up. We shifted the bed to a corner. That night we managed to sleep.

The next morning, he left the house before me.

When I arrived at work later on, my colleagues at work started laughing at me.

"Victor Firdance, Kelvin tell us say you wan drown am with water for your house. Say you dey live for leaking house."

My heart broke at that moment. 

I just faked a smile. 

That day kelvin told me publicly.

"O boy, I no dey follow you go your swimming pool today o. I dey go back my house."

Everyone laughed.

I told him it was alright.

She asked me if my roof was actually leaking. I told her yes. She told me she had a one-bedroom flat she'll want me to stay in since it's vacant only for a year.

"You can move out later on to your house or any house of your choice or you could choose to renew the rent."

I thanked her and eventually moved into the house three days later. That woman actually let me stay in that house for 2years without paying rent. 

Till today I do not know why she decided to help Victor Firdance.
