WONDERS! MAN ARRESTED FOR SELLING THREE OF HIS CHILDREN
A man identified as ThankGod Ekwueme has been arrested by the Rivers State Police Command for selling his three children, IGBERETV reports.
The suspect, whose wife is deaf and dumb, sold the 5-year-old for N700,000, 3-year-old for N350,000 and a day old baby for N500,000.
Spokesperson of the command, SP, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, July 13, 2023, said the suspect, was arrested after credible information on his illegal activity.
In an interview with journalists, Ekwueme, said he was intercepted by OSPAC in his community Omerelu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state when he was about selling his newborn baby.
The suspect disclosed that he was handed over to Elele Police Division from where he was transferred to CP Monitoring unit.
Meanwhile, the mother-in-law of Mr. Ekwueme explained to newsmen that before now, the suspect had been lying to her that her grand children died after child bearing.
The mother-in-law further said that the suspect, Ekwueme, was taking advantage of her daughter (his wife) who is deaf and dumb, to perpetrate the act of selling the wife’s children upon delivery.

A notorious drug kingpin who specializes in sponsoring young Nigerians to traffic Class A drugs to Europe especially Italy, has been arrested after operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, stormed his hotel room in Okota area of Lagos late on Friday July 21 when he was preparing a recruited courier to swallow 93 pellets of cocaine meant for distribution in Italy.

A statement released by NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, says the 48-year-old drug kingpin, Charles Uwagbale, had recruited Uju Dominic, 35, from his base in Italy with a deal to come to Nigeria, ingest 100 pellets of cocaine on Friday 21st July and return to Italy on Saturday 22nd July.

The NDLEA spokesperson added that operatives of the Lagos state Command of the Agency who made the arrest and seizure had on Thursday 20th July raided Akala in Mushin area of the state where they recovered 37.5kg cannabis from the home of a fleeing suspect.

A 37-year-old man, Chiemela Victor Ekeke, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Magistrate’s Court in Umuahia, Abia State, for the s3xual assault of a 4-year-old girl. The incident happened at Eze Ogbulafor Street in Umuahia, Abia State on Friday, July 7, 2023.

Ekeke, who is a labourer and farmer from Ndioru in Ikwuano Local Government Area of the state, confessed to being HIV-positive but claimed that his doctor had “flushed” away his viral load. Delivering her ruling on the matter, the Presiding Magistrate, N. Lekwa, said that the court in the last sitting found Ekeke guilty of child defilement.

The prosecution commended the court’s decision as consistent with the law concerning child defilement. Prior to the life sentence, Ekeke had been discharged on a count of conspiracy, while a second defendant was acquitted due to insufficient evidence linking him to the crime.

Ekeke admitted to having carnal knowledge of the minor but pleaded for leniency.
According to reports, Ekeke reportedly snuck into the home of the girl’s parents after the mother had gone out to get some commodities.

He took the little girl into one room in the building, where he defiled her and inflicted injuries on her private parts.
A neighbour who saw him enter the house promptly identified him, leading to his arrest. During interrogation by the crowd, the suspect denied defiling the little girl but claimed that “I only carried her in my laps and touched her in the genitals.”

He further claimed that he came to repay the N3,000 debt he owed someone in the yard. Ekeke, who blamed the devil for his evil act, was later handed over to the Police for investigation and prosecution.
