King Charles III’s wife, Queen consort Camilla Parker, has a reputation for being one of the most divisive members of the royal family. Camilla has never been accepted by the British public or the royal family because of her relationship with the current heir to the throne. She has been married to the monarch for more than 18 years, yet unlike other British queens or princesses, she has yet to be featured on the cover of a fashion magazine.

However, Camilla Parker received the highest heraldic honor bestowed by the nation, the Royal Lady of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, from Queen Elizabeth II last year. In a message made in February 2022 to mark her 70th year in power, Queen Elizabeth also announced her desire for Camilla to inherit the title of Queen Consort after her passing. 

The royal family’s attitude toward Camilla significantly changed as a result of this act.

Prior to this, Camilla Parker was despised by the public and was referred to as the “third wheel,” and Princess Diana was viewed as a lady betrayed by her husband, King Charles II. However, Parker has made a concerted effort to win the approval of the populace and of the royal family. As a result, she has been discreet and has never made offensive remarks in public, which has won the admiration of many.

In response to a question regarding her relationship with King Charles, Camilla grinned and said:

‘It’s been entertaining. We both have commitments to keep and we hardly see each other, but we try to carve out some free time to be together. We usually see each other in the afternoon and have a cup of tea.

Camilla ParkerDespite the difficulties she has encountered in her role as queen consort, Camilla Parker shows strength and love for the monarch in her statements.
