This 19-year old girl was beaten by her boyfriend to this extent. A little research into her childhood will likely unveil the fact that she grew up in a dysfunctional family where she witnessed her mother being battered by her father! That means she is only replicating the kind of relationship between her father and mother. In essence she is subconsciously conditioned to only want men who will abuse/batter her. She most often does not know this

This is often the case with people who had their childhood in dysfunctional families where conflict (verbal abuse, battery etc) was the order of the day between their father and mother. It could also be the foster parents.

If you had your childhood in a family where conflict was prevalent, seek therapy as soon as you are mature enough to date or else you will be confronted by a similar fate.
