OPINION:GOVERNOR EL-RUFAI HAS FAILED THE PEOPLE OF KADUNA
Governor Nasir El-Rufai has failed the people of Kaduna State. Governance does not end with collecting huge loans and building flyovers as a monument to make oneself look bigger than life as he tries to copy Kwankwaso of Kano. Megalomaniacs are obsessed with monuments that they assume will immortalise them and not really the people. Governance is about the people and not about an individual. For Governor Nasir El-Rufai most things are about him, his ego and his image.
How do one reconcile a man who is being praised by his supporters as having done so much when thousands have been killed, thousands raped, kidnapped and have their houses and properties destroyed under him? What has been going on in Kaduna, Niger, Zamfara, Jigawa, Sokoto, Katsina, Benue, Plateau, Taraba, Adamawa, and all around, orchestrated and perpetrated by Fulani bandits and jihadists is tantamount to crime against humanity. What is troubling is the silence and mostly the attempts to interpret it as herders and farmers clashes by certain people, the first of such interpretation was done by Nasir El-Rufai in his first four years as Governor of Kaduna State. I still recall when he rushed to the media to report that over one hundred Fulanis were massacred in Southern Kaduna only later it turned out to be a fake news from Mr. El-Rufai.
Kaduna has been the hotbed of kidnapping, armed robbery, mass murder, rape, burning down of communities, by Fulani herdsmen since Nasir el-Rufai became Governor. What did he do about it? You can see not much. He isn't saying much either. If the people that were killed in Kagoro and are being killed elsewhere in Kaduna day by day by these Fulani bandits are the nomadic Fulani, Nasir El-Rufai and the Buhari's federal government would have done anything, everything, to stop it.
