WHY KINGIBE IS WRONG IN SAYING THAT NIGERIA'S UNITY IS NEGOTIABLE
By Timawus Mathias
I do not agree with Babagana Kingibe that the unity of Nigeria is negotiable. It is not negotiable. Kingibe was Head of News and Current Affairs and Radio Kaduna, the war time megaphone of the Federal Government and left a distinct mark. Sadly he was gone when I joined in 1972. I have regrets that he has has had lacklustre performances thereafter as SGF, and Minister, as Security Chief, and even as a member to probe the NIA monies found in a flat in Lagos. I am disappointed in his comment and I want it known that Nigeria's oneness is not a negotiable item even as family unity is negotiable. What is negotiable is leadership in which truth and justice and justice shall reign. I am disappointed and hurt. But I am not surprised. This attitude allowed Boko Haram to annex and torment Borno and even expand territory while he and his like minds ran away to Abuja. In America, such a reckless comment is treasonable especially from one of those that Nigeria gave everything to on a platter of gold.
We must provide bold honest to goodness leadership as the only means of dousing all agitations for self rule. We must also go back to where we were coming from - the exercise of regional powers. Red card Babagana Kingibe.
